I haven't missed more than a couple days in a row of posting on here in a long time. Well that might change. Not only am I a hip hop nerd, I'm also a weather geek. My other love besides Hip Hop is storm chasing. You know, "Twister" and all that crazy shit (that's not really how it is). Tomorrow is shaping up to be a pretty good day for chasing and that on top of it being the first good day of the season is the reason I might not be around at all this weekend.
I was busy at work today (intern meteorologist) and didn't get anything uploaded so no posts today. If we do this thing, we are going to have to leave early tomorrow morning and head to south central Kansas/ panhandle of Oklahoma in order to be there in time for the action late afternoon/early evening. If that happens, there is a chance we might be stuck out there since there is a chance of a Blizzard on the eastern plains of Colorado Friday night, thus blocking re-entry back into Colorado, leaving us stuck in Kansas for an undetermined amount of time.
None of this is for sure yet. Still monitoring the situation and I want to make sure at least one of my storm chasing partners can head out with me. Hip Hop and storm chasing...nothing is better than chasing a storm while having some Public Enemy "Takes A Nation...." blaring on the speakers. Spring time can be a busy time for me, so there might be some times like this in the next few months. If I don't post for a few days, and I know you'll all be distraught, that's where I'll be. Then again, there might be a post tomorrow night...who knows?
Peace, Trav

Awesome. Do you have any pix from previous storms you can share? I'd love to see those.
Stag, that one on the post is one from two seasons ago. By far the craziest storm I've ever been on. Saw twin tornadoes out of that one. Also got pounded by hail so bad that I was afraid for my life. It was a mistake on our part to be in the hail.
My myspace page has a few (go the wydu myspace page and I'm on the friends list. I had a regular camera the last three years and all my film from last year is still waiting to be developed. I have a few on the myspace page and some saved on my computer, one of a windshield smashed out by hail. My first two years, I was still a rookie so I wasn't always in the right position for the best pictures.
Vaguely more exciting than my trip back to London to see my folks Trav although I did encounter a pretty hairy moment on the underground... lol.
Have fun mate.
Dan
u guys do a great job w/ this blog. gotta say i been sleeping on it too much. keep doing it, and thank u.
of course i post the compliment in the post about tornado's on the way. my bad. stay safe. 1
haha sounds awesome!!..
thats something i gotta try out one day..
Hey man.
I just wanted to say thanks for the link and especially for the good words. I didn't really "pimp" the site to you earlier because I'm not that into the shameless self promotion, ansd plus I wanted to make sure that top 100 started off without a hitch before I told strangers about it. Have fun with the storm chasing. Albany has shit weather that I'd rather enjoy from the inside. I'd never imagine chasing after it. Funk dat.
Fuckery, thanks for stopping by man.
Biff, it can be boring as shit, but the aderline rush when you are chasing/being chased by a storm is freaking awesome. I guess it's my adrenaline high.
Mike, didn't mean it in a bad way. I wish you would have said something about it though, it's a great site. It reminds me a lot of this site and I mean that in a respectful way. Yeah, I ain't down with chasing snow storms, but a tornado is always fun to track down
if you get hold of the soundtrack to the film Twister, theres a very moving instrumental piece called "Respect the Wind" performed by Edward and Alex Van Halen, which I imagine would be cool to listen to if you were chasing a big tornado down the road. peace.
Range, I've been meaning to grab that OST. I own that movie, for all it's corniness, it's like Top Gun is for the Air Force geeks.
We're not going, just too many uncertainties and the timing is looking like all the good shit is going to happen after nightfall and I'm not nearly confident enough in my forecasting abilities and storm chasing knowledge to do a night chase. Plus getting stuck out there during a blizzard further west isn't my idea of a fun weekend.
I live in an urban area of Massachusetts, a region not known for it's volatile weather, but last year the roof got ripped off my apartment building by a sudden violent storm that could have been a microburst, a min-tornado or just severe bowing. There was no advance warning ( and the storm itself only lasted 3 minutes at most ) and officials really didn't offer any sort of meteorological explanation of what happened after the fact. But I've gotten into amateur forecasting because of it. It was just rain and wind, no hail ( I've seen what severe hail can do in my research ) but that shit is not fun at all. Something's definitely wrong out there with the amount of severe weather that seems to be a constant throughout the nation now. You've got some guts ( or a couple screws loose? ) going out there and actually seeking that shit out though. Shit's crazy.
i say you put on some OGC da storm for this trip :)
Easy Travis,
How about a 'Music To Chase Storms To' comp? I could sit at home with a hairdryer in my face and try and get close to the Twister experience from the comfort of my own home?!!!
Take it easy buddy.
Dan
I was planning on doing that anyway for the road, but I can share it. There will probably be a hip hop version, then a rock version.
