Just a favor asking people to leave a comment when downloading. Yeah, yeah, I know, it's the same problem with all blogs, and the people running it always bitch. But, I have a new son & work, Travis has school and work and a daughter so the least people could do is leave a little comment. Maybe something along the lines of how a songs takes you back to when you where in high school laying the wood to some chick in your car or how you used to smoke weed to a group that we posted their album up. We spend the time out of our busy lives to post up albums, songs, pictures and a half-interesting quip about what makes what we are posting special to us. We wanna hear why it is special to you too. Example - Sh'Killa is downloaded 98 times as of this moment and the only commnets I got where "Can you upload track 12, its missing". FUCK people, you make me not want to post shit for ya'll. I speak for myself, sorry for draggin Travis into this, I just wanted to make a point that we are not here for FUCKING LEECHERS.

***EDIT***
I just want to say to Chicago and any one else. I am sorry if across harsh. My purpose wasn't to be a dick and I didnt want anyone to be turned off by my comments. I want to make that clear. But, I get fired up when I get a new song or album that I know is rare or i never thought I would ever hear again. I know when I met Travis a few years ago, I would get so excited when I knew he had some albums that I had been looking for, and he would share with me. When I would get the link from him, i was so grateful. I only post albums so that I can find others who are excited to get some of these albums and see your reactions. Sure, you are going to have those out there that dont give a damn and will still leech, but I was just hoping to maybe let people know that your response it a big part of what keeps us going. I love to hear what people think. If you don't like South Central Cartel (or anyone else for that matter) I want to hear why to. I really like getting in hip-hop discussions with others. Some comments can also take conversation on different paths other than just about the album or songs posted. To everyone, I apologize if I came across as an asshole. But, please post comments and maybe we can even get a better feel for our audience's likes and dislikes.

first off, this blog is GREAT, man. I only found out about you guys about 6 months ago but this is probably the first blog I come to out of the ten's or maybe 100's out there. for rare OOP unreleased, etc. you guys definitely rock,. some peeps just dont like to leave comments because of whatever reason, . but if somene posts up an album you tried years and couldnt get for love or money, thats like findin a jewel or gem, so its bitchy not to give props, I agree, but some people are like that. pz
dude i never knew it was so important for you guys to get some feedback ... you guys do a great job man really...tought you never read that stuff anyway ...so keep going, feeding your kids and sharing good music! thanks for the "hustle" dude!

I stand behind Brian and his wishes. He has his right to feel the way he feels.
Personally, I love talking hip hop and try to answer any comments, questions, or general thoughts that are left in the comments. I love seeing comments left, just for the simple fact I know that people are feeling what we are doing.
Honestly, I'm fairly happy with what comments we recieve. This blog seems to have a lot more interaction than the majority of the blogs on line, but as I said, we can never get too many comments and not to boost our "ego's", but just to know we are doing something right.
My two cents
I can't even download from the computer that I look at the site with but I'll leave a comment. Thanks for being one of the VERY FEW blogs that write a description or piece about the music you putting out there...even personal anecdotes about the time period of the release. I never understood why certain bloggers bitch about not getting any comments when they are just putting up random rare mp3's that they never even bought or had back in the day in the first place...or worse finding pictures of the vinyl and the song is clearly not ripped from vinyl. So bloggers, learn to be more like this crew here and quit complaining that you don't recieve props for bootlegging material that you (mostly) never paid for yourself. Again, much love to this sight and the few like it that make it interesting and learning to pass along music to the next generation (or reminding us of our past) instead of posting music just because you think you found something rare and don't even know it's history. I think that about does it.

Hey,
I know exactly how you feel,I have my own blog (in danish), I really put a lot of time and effort into everything I write, but people never leave a comment... As soon as I remind people to leave a comment they start coming, but after a few days people forget and there are no more comments... I must admit that I only check out your blog to read what you have to say, I haven't downloaded anything yet... (still waiting on that Ras Kass - Soul on ice demo) he, he I'll keep busting you nuts untill you re-up it... If you have any other Demo's from any other rappers, I would really apreciate if you uploaded them... If you need anything maybe I can hook you up. (even though I doupt I can find anyhing in Denmark, that you wouldn't be able to find yourself, but hey it's the thought that counts, right) Anyway, great blog... Keep up the good work, and don't forget that Ras Kass joint (there it was again;-)
Peace
tba
Brian, you're totally right, leaving a comment is not only to say thanks but sharing thoughts and passion for those out-of-print classics.
The posts are so dope that I read and forget to download ish!!
Hey Brian
I've been lookin at the site for a couple months now and I know i need to give yall more props then i do. Yall have def hit me to some real gems. I'm always lookin to have hip hop conversations with people - I miss those days in high school where i could sit around for hours with my boys and just BS about hip hop for hours. I'll get better about droppin a comment and I look forward to have some discussions with you man, peace

hey guys.. this guy's great.. someone hook him up with that ras kass already!!
if something engages me to leave a comment, i do, even if i'm not dl-ing anything.
and i think i leave comments automatically if/when i dl.. sometimes there's no time to write a long one, so you/i just say a ty in the cbox or something.
is hard trasladate to spanish and before give you comment...
only thx for the text, for the disc, for de music.
hey travis,
to be honest, i have too feel addressed by your comment.
ive just discovered "blog-wonderland" about 2 months ago and since then have downloaded tons of music from different blogs. i hardly ever left a comment.
i have to say i was ignorant for that.
i just experienced myself, how important it is to get a response for a post including a few thoughts about the music, as i posted some stuff on a hip-hop journal (http://community.livejournal.com/hiphopmp3s/)
and didnt get a response myself.
as i saw how many people downloaded, i even kinda got angry. of course YOU are putting much MORE work and time into this, so i can imagine how you might feel.
so now youre going to see my footprints here and there...
thanks alot for your GREAT blog, that i always enjoy reading!!!
btw, if you ever consider doing a post about the CUF, id very much like to help you out with some material (i own 5 orig. albums+ lotta mp3s). the CUF is one of my favorite crews out there and it hardly ever gets any coverage anywhere. i think they would fit into your blog very well and people have to know about them.

you know, a few months ago, i encountered a blog where the owner posted albums/ stories/ reviews/ track listing/ etc., but didn't post the urls- so i had to email him, and he sent me the link(s) right away.
i thought it weird, but i suppose it was a way to get a response/comment. it also protected him from being bothered by "the law" i guess.
i wish i remembered who that was, but firefox lost all my bookmarks (more mess!) a couple of weeks ago when it tried to auto-upgrade.
I can relate with what you're saying. Recently I decided to take a stab at this hip hop blog thing. Getting a comment is always something I look forward to, as few and far between they are. With my lack of creativity and overall writing ability in comparison to some of the blogs authors I've encountered, I can see why my blog don't get much feedback.
I hate reading with a passion, yet I check some of these hip hop blogs out on the regular and always read the write-ups, even if the album may not appeal to me. That's why I try to share some of my limited knowledge on everything I post up.
It takes 2 minutes to leave a comment, you're time ain't worth THAT much.
And what's up with these stupid bloggers who post material that is still in print and want "props" for posting it...give me a frickin break and quit blogging if all you do it for is cheap people who refuse to spend money on music that is out of print or otherwise.
I totally agree lads that getting a few comments does really make a difference, particularly if you have put time and effort into writing. Still I guess you can't be too angry with people who don't as you are still reaching them with thoughts and music - not a bad thing.
@ Brian Green. I agree that positng brand new albums is not really necessary, but I don't feel that something has to be out of print for it to be blog worthy. A lot of albums from the genre have been overlooked by the masses at various stages, and hearing an artist's earlier work may encourage them to by new material from that artist, catch a show etc. In this way, it keeps an interest in the music alive and lets more people access it. That has got be good for an artist hasn't it?
Having said this, people do of course have a responsibility to buy some music if they gain a lot from it and give something back to the industry.
Anyway... got a few comments going here Brian!
Dan
I apologize for not leaving comments on here much. I do understand where you are coming from. I also love getting feedback on stuff I post up on my music boards and such.
I think I've commented this before, or at least said it to Travis, but this is my FAVORITE MUSIC BLOG, and always the first one I check. You guys are great with consistently updating it too, so I am able to check this blog more frequently than some others I browse. You guys post up a lot of harder to find stuff, music that brings back a lot of memories and always makes me smile. I also love all the write-ups about albums or just general stuff. Keep it up guys!
hey.
props, great blog. I don't usally comment cause most of what's posted here i never heard, I was a just a kid when all this shit dropped and I wasn't really into hip hop or music at all when I was 8... So I don't immedietley realate to this..
Altough, I download alot of what's posted and maybe the same day, maybe weeks or months later i listen to it.. Most is really good and some of it has became favourits... Problem is, by that time I listen to it I've forgotten witch blog I downloaded it from or I've been to lazy to go look for the post in the archives to comment and give props. Sry for that..
I'll mos def try to comment more in the future..
Btw.. Props to trav for naming Binary Star's Masters of the Universe as one of the greatest from this side of 2000. I've had it on my hd for some while but never listend to it, once I did it really blew me away.. Thanks for that!
