Provocative, insightful, stimulating are a few words that come to mind to describe the Coup. In this world of diluted watered down boring ass hip hop, Boots and Pam da Funkstress have never lost focus. They started the group with E-Roc as a voice for the anti-establishment. They can really open the listeners eyes all while teaching a lesson. Proving a point that ignorance truly is the #1 reason for discrimination in society. Don't get me wrong, Boots is spitting on a different, if not higher level then most. A devout communist, this one-of-a-kind sounding MC spits some tales that will open your eyes wide.
At the heart of it all, most of it you can agree with, when you sit back and think about it. Thinking about it, being the one aspect that a lot of todays MC's don't make you do. You may remember that the Coup released their 2001 album Party Music very near to September 11th with a eerie cover:
The Coup's first album Steal This Album, is a true underground classic. I upped their third album 'Steal This Album', prob their most slept on album. Check it out:

Everything the Coup has done I enjoy but Steal This Album is my favorite. Me And Jesus The Pimp... The Repo Man Sings for You. Just classic, classic stuff. Good post, they still don't get the respect they deserve.
Love the series, really mixed up the different flavors! Personally, I'd love to see a Freestyle Fellowship post...
@Tm, I had FF is mind.....
Nice. It doesn't get much better than the Coup.
Not to pick nits, but Steal This Album is actually their 3rd record (and probably their best). The song Kill My Landlord is on their 1st record, also called Kill My Landlord. I'd love to see that one up here -- my vinyl copy is beat.
Thanks for the great blog, btw.
Props for the post, but the Hi-C that's rolling with Young Buck is a completely different person to the one in Quik's camp.
speaking of ff, i think hhb recently had an aa discography, so they had everything up ther like 15+ albums. i had to turn away. lol. too much rapidshare!!
@slosh-your right on the coup album i upped. i upped the album a long time ago and meant to post the first album here in the blog, was half alseep, looks like thats what i get for making fu of travis
@tim, its the same Hi-C, Crawf-Dawg
Honestly, I had never heard a Coup album before the one they dropped last year. No reason really, just one of those groups I never checked for I guess. I'll check this one out.
As far as Freestyle Fellowship, never been a big fan of them. I do have that Project Blowed album (the original version) that I have been toying with throwing up one of these days
really TRAV re: FF & project blowed? you're kidding me!! that's an UNDSIPUTED CLASSIC. lol.
FYI, i read on WIKI that Hi-C rolling with Young Buck is not that same Hi-C we all know and love. Too bad, id like to see him blowup worldwide.
PS..any other rare 304 tracks would be appreciated. I hope some of yall were able to upload that Mausberg album..great sh!t
