House of Pain - Legend (1994)
1) Legend (Lethal Dose Remix)
2) Legend (Extended Mix)
3) Word Is Bond (Remix)
4) It Ain't A Crime (UK Remix)
5) Word Is Bond (Remix Instrumental)
If you're a House of Pain fan, you should definitely check this out (you may already have it if you're a fan). The only place you could get this song, back in the day, was from this maxi-single, or as I've seen it labelled, EP. The first track is a rock version of the song and the second track is more of a hip-hop flavored track. They caused a bit of a stir with the reference to Kurt Cobain in the last chorus. The chorus went as such:
A hero aint nothin' but a sandwich
and a legend aint nothin' but a car
So go blow out your brains to get some fame and maybe one day you'll be a star
And, ended as:
A hero aint nothin' but a sandwich
and a legend aint nothin' but a car
So go blow out your brains like Kurt Cobain and maybe one day you'll be a star
It also has a nice remix of Word is Bond with Diamond D and a remix for It Ain't a Crime. Both are needed for House of Pain fans and this EP, or maxi, is a great overall piece of music that I'm glad I purchase. Of course, when I bought it, I HAD to have it, so it's not like I had a choice in the matter.
Delinquent Habits - Here Come the Horns (1997)
1) Here Come the Horns
2) 1 Adam 12
3) This is L.A.
4) Snippets (Shed a Tear, Western Ways, Think You're Bad)
I bought this because of the title track and I wanted to hear a little more to see if the LP was worth my money. Oh, the money I may have saved back in the day if I could listen to stuff first. That being said, I love Here Come the Horns, which, surprisingly enough, contains a nice horn sample and a nice piano loop.
DH's were affiliated with Cypress Hill and Sen Dog is listed as the executive producer. I remember liking most of what I heard, but I never did get the LP for some reason. It might have been one of those things were I just got burnt out on these tracks, and by the time the LP was out, I just kept pushing the purchase off until it left my list potential buys.
Here Come the Horns is at least worth your time, so check it out.
Wyclef Jean - Gone Till November (1997)
1) Gone Till November (The Makin' Runs Remix)
2) No Airplay
3) Gone Till November (The Makin' Runs Instrumental)
4) No Airplay (Instrumental)
5) Gone Till November (Pop Version)
Man, I loved The Carnival and Wyclef back in 1997. I lost interest after I bought that second solo LP with that single with The Rock. Maybe I need to go back and listen to that sometime, as I remember not really listening to it much at all.
The first track here is a hip-hop version with R.Kelly singing the chorus and featuring a Canibus. Anyone that was into Wyclef, and might still be, will like this song. Basically, like I said, it's a rap version of Gone Till November.
No Airplay is a nice track that was not on The Carnival. This song also has Canibus, who had such promise, but never hit it big. You can't say he's not a nice MC though. There are a couple instrumentals in here and it ends with the LP version of Gone Till November.
Lauryn Hill - Doo Wop (That Thing) (1998)
1) Doo Wop (That Thing) - Radio
2) Lost Ones
3) Lost Ones (remix)
4) Doo Wop (That Thing) - instrumental
5) Doo Wop (That Thing) - a cappella
Oh, Lauryn Hill, I remember you. You were awesome, and a little crazy, and then you turned that little crazy into major crazy. The last thing I heard about LH is that she has a religious guru that pretty much controls her life. I don't know how true this is, but she definitely got crazy religious and had a bunch of babies with Rowan Marley. Sounds like she's had a lot of troubles with men; Wyclef and Rowan, who I don't think ever married her and it sounds like he hasn't exactly been the most faithful boyfriend, or whatever they are.
Well, you have the radio version and a nice Lost Ones remix, which Hill continues to say has nothing to do with Wyclef, although most people feel that it is a direct shot at her ex. There's an instrumental, so you can release your inner-Lauryn Hill and drop you're own verses over her beat.
Maybe she'll have a Whitney Houston-like comeback. Who knows? But, like Muhammad Ali, her most formative years were probably squandered, but unlike Ali, it wasn't the government that played her out. Anyway, if you're reading this Lauryn, and I know you are, I'm willing to be your new guru. I won't take any of your money and I'll let you pray and all that, but I'd really stress that you need to make more music. For real. Come on up to Minneapolis and we'll get this comeback started. Hey, Prince is from here.
I've combined all of these into one download, since they're so small. If you don't like something, delete it.

Total Randomness - A Bloggers Freestyle
I'm sitting here, avoiding work, and figured I'd do a post. I had no idea what I wanted to cover, but I haven't really posted up anything "new" lately (new meaning not previously posted on here before), so I went digging through some of the disks I have with me in my side pack (what the old b-boy uses in the work place in place of a backpack). I found three or four things that are worthy enough of the WYDU treatment. But since there was no planning out before starting, we have no clue where this is going to end up....but fuck it, here we go, the Bloggers freestyle.
Note...I'll try to update the links tomorrow for those of you that have left links for me to check lately.....
Audio Two/ Alliance - The Flip Flip EP (First Priority Music (?), 1986)
1. I like Cherries - Audio Two
2. Chillin' - Audio Two
3. The Freshest Slow Jam - Audio Two
4. Where's The Fellas - Alliance
5. We Got A Beat Pt 2 (Rough Rough) - Alliance
6. Why Oh Girl - Alliance
I think I've established the fact that I'm a big Audio Two/First Priority Music Family fan, so I won't even rehash that out. This is one of my prized joys that I've downloaded in the past year or so. Stagalicious posted it in the cbox this past winter (where you at stag??). If you are like me, you only read basically what is shown in the cbox and rarely look any further (Unless it's Dreads cbox, then the comedy factor is worth looking back at the posts) so this might have gotten passed over
by some people.
I can't find jack on this release, I can't even find anything on it on Hip Hop Discogs. I'm guessing this is a rather rare find. It's broke into two sides; Side A belonging to Audio Two and Side B belonging to Alliance. I'm guessing (with no proof) that if this was indeed released in '86, it would be the first recordings of Audio Two and Alliance.
The first song appearing on the Audio Two side is "I Like Cherries", which did show up on "What More Can I Say". I always looked at it as "filler" on the album, but it's fine on an EP, I suppose. The second joint, "Chillin" is not on any other release as far as I know. It's in traditional Audio Two mold, in that it's a party jam with loads of Old School feel to it, complete with Gizmo getting on the tables and behind the mic. If you like Audio Two, you'll like this joint for sure. The third joint "The Freshest Slow Jam" was on one of the "Top Billin'" remix joints that dropped before the album. At first, it sounds like some Uncle L "I Need Love" type bullshit, but after really listening to it, you figure out it's more of a parody to those type of syrupy bullshit songs. It's kind of funny actually.
The Alliance side comes with all material exclusive to this release (as far as I know). "Where's The Fellas" makes me want to question their, ummm, preference in the human race, but whatever. It's ver old schoolish sounding, but just ho-hum, but there is some cool DJ routines on it. The second track is "We Got A Beat" which is better, with King of Chill dropping some old school goodness. The third track comes to us in the form of "Why, Oh Girl", which sounds like some corny 80's R&B joint, but it's humorous, even if it doesn't mean to.
For any one that is a fan of 80's hip hop, needs to pick this up on the quickness.
House of Pain - Unreleased EP (And Other Stuff)
No track order--List of Tracks included
Reachin' Out (from No Doubt Promo Vinyl)
Sick of It All - Just Look Around (House of Pain Remix)
3rd Rock From The Sun
Choose Your Poison Remix
Irish Pride
Same Old
Intro
Womb To The Tomb
I'm not even going to pretend like I know anything about this, because I don't. It's kind of surprising too, because I liked House of Pai
n back in the day, but I've never heard of this. I'm guessing it's legit, but then again, I don't know. I found it in Bust The Facts cbox one day.
Judging from Everlasts vocals, I'm guessing this came in the later stages of the groups existence. He sounded like he had a corn cob planted in an unpleasant orifice on the body on the last two albums. It's worth checking out for those of you into unreleased stuff or just a fan of House of Pain. Anyone got any info on this, please feel free to share it.

I'm not sure what my infatuation was with this group back in '95, but I loved this album. Listening to it now, I realize if it wasn't for the nostaglia factor, I probably wouldn't find this all that special, but I still love throwing it in the phones ever once in awhile and give it a listen. Maybe since they were tied to Public Enemy's Terminator X and I worshipped anything remotely related to PE, I gave this more credit that it deserved. It's not very original and sounds a lot like most of the New York/Long Island music coming out in the mid '90's with some smooth/rugged NY shit, but I guess it depends which groups you heard it from first, which for me it was these guys. The production is nice, but again, nothing terribly original. It's just a fun album to listen to you if you dig the mid 90's stuff.

1. Time To Get Ill
2. Big City Hustlers
3. Nightlife
4. Get Out The Life
5. Keep Earning
A very unspectaclar demo/promo effort from the Tim D-O-G that, from what I heard, dropped sometime early this decade. I've never been a big Tim Dog fan other than his "Penacillian On Wax" debut LP, so maybe my opinion isn't the one you should ask for for this particular album. I think I originally got this on Rapchwast last summer, but it's been a year, so this for those of you that may have missed it then.
