DJ Eclipse "Rap Is Outta Control" 1/17/10 Show & Halftime Best of 2009 Show

I've got 2 dope shows for ya'll this week! First is Sunday's "RIOC" show with our guest Fashawn fresh off the plane from Cali. We chopped it up about his album "Boy Meets World" as well as spoke on future projects. Nice freestyle session at the end of the show as well. E, D-Stroy, J57 & Caesar every Sunday night on Hip Hop Nation Sirius XM.

Then, below the links for that is last Wednesday's "Halftime Show" which was our "Best of 2009" show. And like we always do, we split the show into the best of freestyles from artists that came through and the best songs we played. Doesn't always coincide with what we feel were the best albums of the year, but the songs that we liked and played the most. Some might not even have been on an album. After listening to the show we realized we had missed a couple freestyles so we've added a few more to this link that didn't appear on the actual broadcast. E, Skizz, Pete & Marz every Wednesday night on 89.1FM WNYU.

Also, big shout out to Statik Selektah who was one of the many DJs at my surprise bday party on Saturday (thanks Rachel!).

This past weekend, Beatminerz Radio had an All-Star line up of DJs. Click the link below to see/hear Part Two of my Old School 80's Vinyl set from Friday. And to check out regular programming on Beatminerz Radio just go to www.dabeatminerz.com.

DJ Eclipse Halftime Show Roc Raida Tribute

I'm a little late on this one, but we'll get it up now because I know people dig this shit, just like I do. This is last weeks Halftime Show, which was a tribute to Roc Raida. I'll let DJ Eclipse give the introductions... - Trav

In preparing for tonight's benefit/tribute show for Roc Raida (Editor: Sorry, a week late, I didn't get the email until after the show had started) we had a bunch of special guests come through The Halftime Show last night to discuss and display what you can expect to see and hear this evening at BB Kings. Sugar Cuts who is organizing the TABLETURNS reunion show along with Sean C of the X-Men and Tye (Raida's wife) gave us the 411 on the event, the history of the X-Men and information on how to donate to ROC4RAIDA. The showcasing came from DJ's Craze, Shiftee, Roli Rho and Mista Sinista.

In addition to that we had plenty of guests in the place for CMJ week so you can also hear interviews and freestyles from Jern Eye, One Be Lo, Statik Selektah, Joe Scudda, Bekay, Matt Diamond, Homeboy Sandman, Marco Polo, Torae, Chaundon, Jozeemo, Rapper Pooh & Kam Moye.

Listen to last night's show as you get ready to witness something tonight that NYC hasn't seen in a long time. Download link http://bit.ly/kMzPz

DJ Eclipse Halftime Show Mr Magic Tribute

Here's my Mr. Magic Tribute from this past Wednesday on The Halftime Show. I pulled out a lot of old 12"s, radio tapes, rare demos and took calls from Kool DJ Red Alert, Special K (Awesome Two), the Mighty Mitchski and Just-Ice. Some of the music sounds crispy and some sounds like it's been sitting in mud for years. None the less, I'm sure you'll enjoy it all as there are definitely some classic moments I dug up for this show. From the groups that Magic put on, to the early years of the Juice Crew, to the records he mixed/co-produced, to the battles and then ultimately to the demise of the Juice Crew, it's all in this show.

R.I.P. Mr. Magic

Halftime Show Roc Raida Tribute Show

On Sunday night I threw together a short Roc Raida tribute set at the beginning of my Sirius show. On Monday night Premier and I held our monthly "Like They Used To Say" party at APT which we dedicated to Roc Raida and were able to raise over $4,000 for his family. On Wednesday night I wanted to do a proper tribute show so I contemplated on what to do. As I compiled every song I could that Raida was featured on (production or scratches) I thought it would be better to reach out to his friends and get their take on what the man meant to them. What started out as a dozen or so people that I intended to talk to snowballed into phone call after phone call of friends wanting to share stories. Please forgive me if I left out someone's name (or misspelled) in this email, but following is a list of who called or showed up at station (no particular order).

Boogie Blind, Daddy Dog, Roli Rho, Kuttin Kandi, Riz, JS-1, Jab, Sugar Cuts, Neil Armstrong, Fat Fingaz, Q-Bert, Mixmaster Mike, A-Trak, J-Rocc, Babu, Rhettmatic, Scratch, Revolution, Rahzel, Bobbito, A.G., Lord Finesse, Dr. Butcher, Vin Roc, DJ Grouch, Freestyle, Spictakular, Shortkut, Supreme and Tame One.

We ended up going an hour longer then we should have. In between calls I found some old cassette tapes of radio show appearances by the X-Men. I hope you enjoy listening to the show as much as I did. Thanks to the whole Halftime crew for making this run smooth; Skizz, Petey Cologne and Marz One. To everyone that showed up or called in....I love you all.
R.I.P. Grand Master Roc Raida. We're going to miss you.
