Sample Sample volume three

Here we go with the third installment of the sample sample series, as you may already know these joints are in most cases not too hard to find and everybody should at least already know the rap tracks where they are being used in, well I guess so..

We got some classic tunes again, like the melody of Biggies hit Juicy, or the unforgettable sample by Leon Haywood which was used by Dr "detox is coming" Dre.

I also added the two original sources of both "new" singles by Jay-Z and Nasty Nas, especially the latest getting critical reviews due to that Wordsmith guy, which was obviously all bullshit from the start..

Then we have that Ben Kweller track which has been used by Talib Kweli and which has not been cleared as far as I saw, but is that important anyway, I think that's the only reason why mixtapes are still great for?

My favourites here are definitely the "dear diary" sample and the Bobby Womack track entitled "Accross 110th Street" which I heard for the first time when watching Tarantino's "Jackie Brown", honestly I searched at the-breaks.com only to find some rap tracks which had used the track so I could include it here, haha!

Well enjoy and as usual don't consider me being an expert in this "terrain", so feel free to throw in your 50 cents, corrections and critics or whatever...

02. Toto - Africa (xzibit-heart of man & jarule-murder reigns)

I started smashing Across 110th Street only a couple of months ago. I'm glad you enjoy it as much as I do.
Thanks for the sampler of samples, some mighty fine music.

'Woman's Got To Have It' also used by 50 Cent on track 2 from the 'GRODT' soundtrack (I forget the name).

I don't wanna diss, since I don't know who these are geared towards - but shit like Toto's "Africa"? The Leon Haywood type of stuff is obviously classic, but you'd think most people have heard these joints a thousand times already? Still, some good stuff there, no doubt.

Thanks for the feedback, well not everyone was already old enough to listen to this in the 80s, and not everyone here is from the states, I would agree with you that this joint might be much better known than let's say Fred Williams tell her, but if you've looked at the other editions you would see that there's a mix of everything,I mean Stings shape of my heart should be known to even more people than Africa imo, but off course that depends on how old you are and mainly what you were/are or have been listening to in the past, or you might already forgot about it, I mean there's a lot of famous tracks in the series, and I'm pretty sure some visitors will even know some more "rare" tracks and not the more famous ones, it depends however, download if you wish and keep the tracks you want, it's as easy as that, but thanks again for the comment and off course feel free to contribute

Hey, do you know that 50 Cent's Piggy Bank contain's a sample from famous Soviet's Alla Pugacheova's song - "Sonety Shaekspeerah"? ))) It was a lot of fun when it was noticed in Russia)))).
Can send this song to you if you want to.
